Networking in the Past, Filming in the Present, Planning Future Events
4 August 2019 from 1-3pm
During this month’s meeting, members participated in a short filming workshop, reflected on happenings in the month of July and started planning events for the future.
In the month of July, two members represented the Youth Empowerment Squad (YES) at a mobile film making workshop with other members of the Great Ormond Street Youth Forum. At this workshop, members learned mobile filming skills and also took part in a cross trust youth engagement.
Also in July, members participated in an event at Parliament focusing on knife crime with the 2019 Youth Select Committee. The goal of this event was for the Committee to produce a report setting out its findings and making recommendations to the Government.
During the August meeting, YES members participated in a filming workshop regarding ‘What Matters to Me’ (in hospital). Members brainstormed ideas in the workshop and then transformed their ideas into short videos with the help of Alexia Dickinson, Films for All.
YES has been invited to participate in many events in the future, some of which include: a 15 Steps Challenge at Whipps Cross, a Child Health Celebration at Mile End, a Ready Steady Go, Hello to Adults Training Video and leading on a trust celebration for the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in November. Watch this space to see what YES has in store.
