8th March, 2020
At the March 2020 YES meeting, plans were made to implement a trolley carrying resources for young people on adult wards. Members discussed the possibility of a welcome pack for young people and what it would contain, including information about YES, safeguarding information and a relevant map of the hospital, among other things. A discussion was had about how to encourage ward staff involvement with the trolleys and members made a plan to roll out the trolleys in the near future.
The Youth Forum Recruitment video was discussed and members came up with designs for the storyboard and ideas are in the process of being finalised for the April meeting. Members also discussed two upcoming interview panels in which members can participate in staff interviews. Members Theo and Melissa gave advice from their personal experience sitting in on staff interview panels and encouraged other members to participate.
Member Melissa discussed her award for Exceptional Contribution. This award included her work with Barts Health as a Young Person Representative and her experience sitting in multi-disciplinary meetings. She gave important advice to YES members, encouraging their input during board meetings and not to be afraid to explain their viewpoint as a young person.
